Twelve vehicles headed to Jamieson, most had met
at Donnybrook, on Saturday morning. The group stopped at the BP outside
Chris
took us along German Spur Track. We
encountered a rather large tree that had fallen and blocked the track. As an attempt had been made to cut the tree
by some previous party, it was obvious that the tree would continue slipping
down the mountain side and it was not possible to continue along this track. Drivers were able to practice their reversing
skills and some fortunate drivers a 3 point or many point turn.

We
emerged from the track at Frenchman’s Gap and made our way back to Jamieson
along the

Sunday
morning began with a wonderful cooked breakfast or cereal/toast in the dining
room. We left shortly after 9am to
travel along the Jamieson -
At the summit, we found a
section of snow were the group was able to play in the snow. The amount of snow
was, well disappointing to say the least.

At
least the kids (and the bigger kids) had some fun in the
snow we found!
From here
Greg lead us to Crowes Hut were the vehicles came
under an arched tree branch across the track and into a small area in front of
the hut so that we could have morning tea.

We made
our way back to the main road, then turned off along
another track which would take us onto Champion Spur Track. The vehicles crossed the river, then made their way up a steep track.

Winching skills were employed to
get one of the vehicles
up part of the slippery, rutted
the hill, then the group
continued on their way to a lunch stop.

After
lunch we made our way back to Jamieson arriving in the late afternoon to
reinflate tyres, say our goodbyes and head off home. Hopefully next year we’ll find some real
snow!
Thanks to Theresa for the
words, and Lance, Dean, Chris and Theresa for the pictures.
