High Country Australia Day 2019

Australia Day Weekend Trip Report

Trip started at Mt Hotham on Thursday where we  camped at Mt. Freeze on the Dargo High Plains road. The views from the campsite were quite spectacular.

The next day traveled the famous Blue Rag track to it's summit, then down to the ### River. After some lunch we headed down Basalt track, Crooked river and the finished at the Dargo Pub (which was very hot day at 40+ degrees). After dinner at the pub, we camped at Black Snake Gully Creek we’re there was a spectacular thunderstorm to watch in the distance.

Saturday the trip continued to Billy Goat track which was very bushy and overgrown. It was also busier than Burke Street.

The trip continued through Howitt Plains and then down to  Wonnangatta where we camped by the river.

Sunday was spent exploring the Wonnangatta site and driving some of the surrounding tracks. Wombat Spur track, Herne Spur track (Very Steep). We spent another night in Wonnangatta.

On Monday we packed up camp and headed home via Myrtleford.
